The SKS is NOT an assault rifle. The vast majority of SKS rifles are semi-auto with a 10 shot non-detachable magazines. Full-auto select-fire models were nothing more than prototypes. And, after the AK-47 was introduced there was no longer a need to develop a select-fire SKS.
