Being Human is a supernatural drama television series developed for North American television by Jeremy Carver and Anna Fricke, based upon the British series of the same name created by Toby Whithouse. The show has an ISAN assigned root ID of 137959 (0002-1AE7) [1] except for the first episode of season three being 213433 (0003-41B9). [2]

The first 13-episode season roughly follows the narrative arc of season one of the British original; [9] [10] however, the British version was only six episodes, so the North American program developed new stories and arcs to fill out the story line enough for 13 episodes.

Series 1 is set in the English city of Bristol and introduces George Sands (a reluctant werewolf in his mid-twenties) and John Mitchell (a vampire with the appearance and behaviour of a young man in his mid-twenties who is over a hundred years old).
To promote the show, the BBC launched a blog, and on 22 December 2008, the BBC Being Human web page aired three prequel videos to introduce the three main characters: Mitchell's is set in the 1960s, George's is a video diary of his visit of Scotland, and Annie's shows her as a ghost terrorizing a couple who had moved into the house.
