Kobe is also a fun city close to Osaka, but it wouldn’t be more than a day side trip. If you have time, maybe check out Fukuoka, which is totally underrated. That’s further south. I’d also recommend Sapporo, which is a beautiful city, but that’s really far north and out of the way from your southern excursion.

Then there’s the life size Gundam Unicorn over by Diver City Tokyo, which is a good place to eat lunch: they have a ton of options like a sushi train, a Kushiya Monogatari and a soba place that has real wasabi roots (you can take the leftovers with you) and Hawaiian place, udon place where you pick your toppings. etc.

The reason this small town's numero uno on my list is because it's my city (Halifax, Nova Scotia)'s sister city. 2) Tokyo My personal reasons for going here is the sheer size of the city. I mean, the fact that you essentially have (in terms of populace) the entire population of Canada crammed into one megacity.
