Brit Asia TV Network is a British television channel that is aimed at the British Asian audience. It launched in 2008 [1] and is known for the Brit Asia TV Music Awards. The channel is available on satellite and publishes videos on Dailymotion and YouTube. Between June 2017 and January 2020 the channel was also available on Virgin Media cable.
It was reported in 2008 that UK government research found that 59% of British Muslims watched the channel. [4] It broadcasts across Europe, the Middle East and Africa, and is streamed live on the internet. Islam Channel began broadcasting in March 2004 on Sky Digital channel 836, [5] but subsequently moved to channel 813, then 806, now 737.
The channel was established by Mirza Tahir Ahmad and became the first Muslim channel to specifically broadcast a variety of Islamic programmes. Its programmes are broadcast on the Sky UK platform, through Astra 2. Initially, its EPG number was 787, but in 2019, the number was moved to 731. [1]
