I agree, and yes again Bose ranks high as do some other "bargain" speakers like Pioneer,Yamaha,CSW,Sony. Top 5 in Consumer Reports tests are (bookshelf) CSW Newton series M80,Sony SS-MB350H (a best buy),BIC America Venturi DV62si,Bose 201,Boston Acoustics CR75. Of the 18 they tested Klipshc Synergy finished dead last.

The ratings are based on picture quality from Excellent (5 Stars), to poor (1 Star). Looks like Samsung TVs have disappointing ConsumerReport's rating of HD direct-view TVs.

  8. How much does an amp circuity design affect sound? - AudioReview

    forums.audioreview.com/amps-preamps/how-much-does-amp-circuity-design-affect-sound...

Ampeg's venerable SVT tube head (at 300 watts) is solid, utterly reliable, and LOUD AS HELL. Their solid state amps at much higher wattage ratings are just....crap. Then there is the issue of circuit design. Modern systems make much greater use of integrated circuits and these also come in consumer, industrial, and military specs.

  9. B&W 600i compared to B&W 601 S3 - AudioReview

    forums.audioreview.com/speakers/b-w-600i-compared-b-w-601-s3-41184.html

The DM601 S3 is a much newer version of the 600i and has a number of refinements over it's predecessor. Most obvious is the updated drivers that include B&W's famous Nautilus tweeter and signature kevlar midrange. You have to remember, the 600i was built 25-30 years ago while the S3 went out of production in '07.

  10. HK watts vs. Yamaha watts - AudioReview

    forums.audioreview.com/amps-preamps/hk-watts-vs-yamaha-watts-9022.html

There are many ways to manipulate the power specifications and make them look better than they actually are. HK has a reputable track record when it comes to amplifier ratings (usually underrated) and as such often comes out sounding at least as powerful as another receiver rated for twice the power. This is why you can't go by the wattage alone.

  11. Sansui 5000A Receiver - AudioReview

I just got a new Sansui 5000A receiver in very good condition. 55 wpc and everything is perfectly working. It will need a good cleaning because I see a lot of dust and dirt inside. The wood case has some scratches here and there. Another silver receiver in my collection. Here is a picture: 03-23-2010, 01:57 PM #2. thekid. I put the Gee in Gear....
