Multi-level shadoof system in Egypt. One theory states that the shadoof was invented in prehistoric times in Mesopotamia as early as the time of Sargon of Akkad (around 24th and 23rd centuries BCE). The earliest evidence of this technology is a cylindrical seal with a depiction of a shadoof dating back to about 2200 BCE.

Located in Salt Lake City, Utah, it was built to accommodate his large family due to a polygamous lifestyle. The house's name references a lion statue above the front entrance.
One of the oldest timber-frame houses in America. The oldest part of the house was built between 1640 and 1653 by Joseph Loomis, who came to Connecticut Colony from England in 1638.
