Avenged Sevenfold (abbreviated as A7X) is an American heavy metal band from Huntington Beach, California, formed in 1999. The band's current lineup consists of vocalist M. Shadows , rhythm guitarist Zacky Vengeance, lead guitarist Synyster Gates , bassist Johnny Christ, and drummer Brooks Wackerman .
Synyster Gates is the son of musician, author, and comedian Brian Haner Sr., known as Papa Gates, who worked with Sam the Sham's band in the 1970s and has done session work for Avenged Sevenfold. Gates studied at the Musicians Institute in Los Angeles, California, as part of the Guitar Institute of Music program, studying jazz and classical guitar.
The guitar features a custom fretboard featuring the following inlays; A cross at the third fret, 'SYN' from the 9th through 5th frets, and Avenged Sevenfold's emblem, the Deathbat, centred on the 12th fret coving the 14th through 10th, and a relatively standard custom bar inlay for the remaining marked frets. Waking the Fallen is the second studio album by American heavy metal band Avenged Sevenfold, released on August 26, 2003, through Hopeless Records.It is the band's first full-length album with new lead guitarist Synyster Gates and bassist Johnny Christ.

This was the second video not to feature the current drummer for Avenged Sevenfold; the first being Nightmare. For this music video, Synyster Gates uses a custom Schecter guitar, similar to his usual black/silver pinstriped guitar. However instead of the inlays on the fretboard reading "SYN", it displays "REV".
In March 2016, Avenged Sevenfold held "March Mania", a tournament to find the most fan loved Avenged Sevenfold song voted each week by fans. On March 31, 2016, Avenged Sevenfold released a video on their YouTube channel and announced "A Little Piece of Heaven" was the winner, then gave an update on the new album, even giving a small clip of a new song, "Exist".
The song is also one of Avenged Sevenfold's best known, and has been certified 2× Platinum by the RIAA.
