After moving to Reading, the festival's line-up became primarily composed of progressive rock, blues and hard rock during the early and mid 1970s, [9] and then became the first music festival to incorporate punk rock and new wave in the late 1970s, when the Jam, Sham 69, and the Stranglers were among the headline acts. The Reading Festival bridge is a temporary footbridge over the River Thames near Reading, Berkshire. First built in 2008, the bridge is installed annually for the Reading Festival to allow access to the main festival site from camping and parking on the north side of the river. Use of the bridge is restricted to festival attendees. [2]
