The name was changed to Piedmont Hospital and eventually the hospital took up an entire square block. The Washington-Rawson neighborhood was razed in the early 1960s to make way for Atlanta–Fulton County Stadium and its parking lots; now the site is part of the large Center Parc Stadium parking lot.

In 2018, Piedmont Henry Hospital became a 236-bed facility. In early 2024, the hospital began construction on a new patient tower. When complete in 2026, the new East Tower will add 96 patient rooms. This will bring the hospital to a total of 355 beds.
In 1977 it became Midtown Hospital, which specialized in second trimester abortions, performing the largest number of abortions of any institution in the state, more than 7000 in 1996. By the 1980s conditions in the hospital had deteriorated, conditions had become overcrowded and unsanitary and in 1988 the State of Georgia closed it.
