Hurst produced aftermarket replacement manual transmission shifters and other automobile performance enhancing parts.. Hurst was also an original equipment manufacturer (OEM) for automakers and provided services or components for numerous muscle car models by American Motors (AMC), Ford, Chrysler, and General Motors.

1970 AMC AMX with standard simulated wood-grained rim-blow steering wheel. Rim Blow was a type of steering wheel with no suspended horn ring or horn pad on the spokes that was featured on some automobiles built in the U.S. from 1969 to 1974. The inside of the rim could be depressed anywhere on its circumference to sound the horn.

The AMC AMX/3 (alternate spelling: AMX III) is a mid-engine sports car produced by the American carmaker American Motors Corporation (AMC), which was presented to the Italian press in March 1970 and was to be produced in Germany by Karmann starting in 1971.
This 108 cu in (1,767 cc; 1.8 L) unit is an AMC designed air-cooled V4 engine that was only used in AMC's lightweight aluminium-bodied M422 'Mighty Mite' military vehicle, built from January 1960 to January 1963 as an air transportable (by the helicopters of the time) Jeep for the U.S. Marine Corps.
