While Samoa, Fiji, Tonga and Japan did play each other in the lead-up to the 2023 Rugby World Cup, no official PNC tournament took place in 2023. As such, Samoa are the defending champions, having gone undefeated at the 2022 iteration of the tournament. Fiji won the 2024 title, beating Japan in the Grand Final, 41–17. [6]

The 2024 Oceania Rugby Women's Championship is the tournament's sixth edition and will be held in Brisbane, Queensland from 24 May to 2 June. [1] [2] The winner qualifies directly for the 2025 Women's Rugby World Cup and for the 2024 WXV 3, whereas the runner-up qualifies only for WXV 3.
The group competition will consist of Tonga, Cook Islands, and Samoa. [2] The top two teams automatically qualify for the top eight knockout stage , while third place is comparatively evaluated to other third-placed teams based on the football ranking system for the last two berths.
