Villa Rica / ˌ v ɪ l ə ˈ r ɪ k ə / (Spanish, Italian, and Portuguese translation: Rich Village) is a city in Carroll and Douglas counties in the U.S. state of Georgia. Villa Rica is placed in the Atlanta metropolitan area. Additionally, there are unincorporated areas in Paulding County with Villa Rica postal addresses.
State Route 61 (SR 61) is a 107.1-mile-long (172.4 km) state highway that travels south-to-north through portions of Carroll, Douglas, Paulding, Bartow, Gordon, and Murray counties in the western and northwestern parts of the U.S. state of Georgia.

From a period of late 2014 to mid-2015, GDOT proposed to widen I-20 from the Alabama state line eastward to Villa Rica, GA. Most of that length had the roadway widened from four to six lanes, with ultimate plans to widen to at least six lanes from Birmingham, Alabama, to Atlanta. In 2015, the widening project begin.
It heads east as Scoggins Road to an intersection with SR 61 (Villa Rica Highway) At this intersection, the highway takes the name Hiram Sudie Road. It continues to the east and meets the Bill Carruth Parkway, before it reaches its eastern terminus, an intersection with SR 92 (Hiram Douglasville Highway) on the southwestern edge of Hiram .
