The Premier Basketball League (formerly: Kompetisi Bola Basket Utama or Kobatama), in Indonesian: Liga Bola Basket Utama, often abbreviated to the PBL, is the pre-eminent semi-professional men's basketball league in Indonesia, competed by 8 clubs across the country.
From 2010 to 2015 it was known as the National Basketball League (NBL) and organised by DBL Indonesia. [2] In 2016, PT Bola Basket Indonesia acquired Starting5 and after that PT Bola Basket Indonesia assigned by PP Perbasi to organised the league.
In 1955, due to the improvement of the name in accordance with Indonesian rules, the federation was renamed Persatuan Bola Basket Seluruh Indonesia (PERBASI). Perbasi was later accepted as a member of FIBA in 1953, and a year later, for the first time Indonesia sent a team to compete in the 1954 Asian Games in Manila .
