Roscommon County (/ r ɒ s ˈ k ɒ m ən / ross-KOM-ən) is a county located in the U.S. state of Michigan. As of the 2020 census , the population was 23,459. [ 2 ] The county seat is Roscommon . [ 3 ]
The community is centered along M-55, which forms the boundary with Roscommon Township, and is just west of U.S. Route 127. The community was founded in 1906 and named after Roscommon Township supervisor Edward Nelson.
Although named after the Denton Township supervisor, the community appears in Backus Township on a 1916 and 1930 map of Roscommon County. [ 4 ] [ 5 ] Maple Valley is an unincorporated community located along the township line with Richfield Township at 44°18′19″N 84°29′28″W / 44.30528°N 84.49111°W / 44.30528; -84.
Nester Township is a civil township of Roscommon County in the U.S. state of Michigan. The population was 262 at the 2020 census. Nester was named after Thomas Nester, a businessperson in the local logging industry. [3] The township contains the Eggleston School, the only property in the county listed on the National Register of Historic Places.
