I got an ESAB EM 210 (Mig only) instead of the EMP 210. For TIG/Stick I got an ESAB Rogue ET 200iP PRO. I like having two separate machines on their own carts, plus the Rogue ET iP200 PRO has HF TIG start that I couldn't have gotten with the EMP 210 (maybe not even a Rebel 205 I think). I am extremely happy with both machines.
Passport is really good on 120 volts. Esab is the much better on 240 volts, Arc quality blows away the passport when using C-25. ( 27 pounds with a third of a roll of wire. Generator use the Esab is head and shoulders better then a passport. Owned a passport, and blew another one up with a bit small generator.
A while back I asked input for a choice between the ESAB Rebel EMP 235ic and 285ic with one big concern being my not being sure if the $600 higher price for the 285ic was something I could bite off. My budget has firmed up and the nearly $3K price of the 285ic is within easy reach. But one option lobbed into the conversation was the Multimatic 255.
The Esab is quite a bit more powerful then the 215 lincoln, and will load test out way beyond the Lincoln. I am a big Esab fan but I am still as bit leery of those machines. I can't go into great detail right now but I will post a bit more later. I will say look at the wet-out with the esab and see if it's good. I noticed some machines are better

The only Esab MIGs I would spend my own money on would be the AristoMIG 4000i/5000i, they're serious production machines, very nice quality, but maybe a bit big for your needs. I wouldn't touch a Rebel.
Well I spoke to ESAb and turns out this is a 1998 model. I got the ESAb "spool replacement" kit (the cotter pin style) and put that on this weekend as well as new drive and pressure rolls. Fired it up and.... Welds like junk. Ton of porosity, a lot of popping and spatter. Swapped tank and regulator to our 120 mig and that one welds fine.
Re: ESAB Sentinel A60 Review if the a60 appeals to you then i say just buy it. worst case , you dont like it and resale it on ebay. ive sold two helmets on ebay and they sold easy within a day or two. then buy something else.
ESAB is probably going to loose a lot of sales because of the delay and miller coming out with competition. Yes I think a number of people waiting for the ac/dc Rebel will jump ship and buy the Miller if they have them available soon.
They were badged as L-Tec when Esab bought them and were very comparable to the Lincoln and Miller square wave machines of the day. Migmaster 250 was another good Linde/L-Tec machine that was offered for decades. Up here Esab isn't the best for parts support (having stock) but their tech. support and service support is pretty good.
