Cappadocia (/ k æ p ə ˈ d oʊ ʃ ə ˌ-ˈ d oʊ k i ə /; Turkish: Kapadokya, from Ancient Greek: Καππαδοκία) is a historical region in Central Anatolia region, Turkey.It is largely in the provinces of Nevşehir, Kayseri, Aksaray, Kırşehir, Sivas and Niğde.
The project began in January 2006, with a completion target of 1,065 days set. The initial proposal was a reaction to the growing traffic congestion in the central parts of the city, and to reduce this, a mass-transit tram link was planned to cut right across the area, allowing transportation of locals from one part of the region to the other.
The hypothesis that the modern city of Kayseri, situated about two miles from the site of Caesarea Mazaca, developed around this complex is not confirmed by archaeology. [ 8 ] It was an important trading centre [ 2 ] [ 9 ] on the Silk Road .
