This article lists albatrosses that have been scored in important golf tournaments. An albatross, also called a double eagle, is a score of three-under- par on a single hole. This is most commonly achieved with two shots on a par-5, but can be done with a hole-in-one on a par-4.
The Albatross Ladies Open (also called the Mercedes-Benz Ladies Open and Bridgestone Ladies Open) was a women's professional golf tournament on the Swedish Golf Tour played annually from 1999 until 2001 at the Albatross Golf Club in Gothenburg, Sweden. [1]
The tournament was been played intermittently since 1985, typically at Delsjö Golf Club or Albatross Golf Club. In 1985, 1988 and 1989 it was included on the Ladies European Tour schedule. [2] The 2013 edition was hosted by Karin Sjödin and Linda Wessberg, two former LPGA Tour players that grew up playing at Delsjö Golf Club. [3]
Canada's Taylor Pendrith recorded the first albatross in the 27-year history of the tournament, helping him to a 67 for the second day in a row. He ended up tied for 13th place at 22 under.
Taylor Pendrith delivered the most unlikely shot of the tournament, holing out his 6-iron from 200 yards on the par-5 fifth for the first albatross on the Plantation course since this season-opening tournament moved to Kapalua in 1999. “As soon as I hit it I knew it was going to be really good,” Pendrith said.
