In 2011 The Darkness announced that they were to reunite with all four original members. Poullain described this as being " just like old times ". Poullain is a co-writer on some of the band’s most popular songs such as ‘ Love Is Only A Feeling ’, ‘ Heart Explodes ’, ‘ One Way Ticket ’ and ‘ Rock ‘n’ Roll Deserves To Die ’.

The album was produced by Roy Thomas Baker, best known for his work with Queen, a major influence on The Darkness. Bassist Frankie Poullain left the band during the early stages of production on the album, with most bass parts on the album played by Dan Hawkins .
