Slovakia first participated at the Olympic Games in 1994, and has sent athletes to compete in every Games since then. Prior to the dissolution of Czechoslovakia in 1993, Slovak athletes competed for Czechoslovakia at the Olympics. Slovak athletes have won a total of thirty three medals at the Summer Olympic Games, mostly in slalom canoeing.
The men's tournament is typically restricted to under-23 players, though following the postponement of the Olympics by a year, FIFA decided to maintain the restriction of players born on or after 1 January 1997. Radio and Television of Slovakia (RTVS) transformed into Slovak Television and Radio (STVR) on 1 July, 2024, however, the new organisation will keep RTVS logo and visual layout for a few months. STVR is a member of the European Broadcasting Union (EBU).
