Keuning became director of Museum de Fundatie in Zwolle, of which Kasteel het Nijenhuis in Wijhe/Heino forms part, in 2007. Under his management, the museum's extension was realised. It was designed by Hubert-Jan Henket, and opened by Princess Beatrix on 31 May 2013.

After a council meeting in 2017, the museum was closed and its content were moved to the Historical Center Overijssel. [3] This happened 2 weeks after a major fire incident at the museum that caused hundreds of thousands of euros in damage. [4] In 2022, Anno Museum was opened in the same building as a different museum entirely.
