During the American Civil War, Breaux Bridge was the site of an engagement known as the "Battle of Breaux Bridge." According to Andrew B. Booth’s 1920 "Index to Battles, Campaigns, Engagements, Etc., Fought Within the Limits of the State of Louisiana, 1861–1865," military actions took place at Breaux Bridge on April 17 and April 21, 1863. The original church was established in 1985 when Truro Church in Fairfax planned to establish a mission church in Western Fairfax County. Groundbreaking for the church's first building on the corner of Franklin Farm Rd. and Fairfax County Parkway, took place in March 1988, and three years later the parish was established.
