Károlyi Castle (also called Uray Castle) is a 19th-century castle located in Beregsurány, Vásárosnamény District, Szabolcs-Szatmár-Bereg County, Hungary.The castle was built in classicist style by Baron Gyula Uray before being acquired by the Károlyi family and updated by architect Miklós Ybl.
Gellért Hill (Hungarian: Gellért-hegy; German: Kelenberg, Osterberg or Blocksberg; Latin: Mons Sancti Gerhardi Turkish: Gürz İlyas Bayırı) is a 235 m (771 ft) high hill overlooking the Danube in Budapest, Hungary. It is located in the 1st and the 11th districts. The hill was named after Saint Gerard who was thrown to death from the hill.
The first two sites in Hungary were added to the list at the 11th Session of the World Heritage Committee, held in Paris, France in 1987. Hortobágy (Hungarian pronunciation: [ˈhortobaːɟ]) is an 800 km 2 national park in eastern Hungary, rich with folklore and cultural history. The park, a part of the Alföld (Great Plain), was designated as a national park in 1973 (the first in Hungary), and elected among the World Heritage Sites in 1999. [ 2 ]
The 2016 Budapest bombing occurred on 24 September when a young man detonated a nail bomb to kill two patrolling police officers. A policeman and a policewoman (the latter, coincidentally, the poster face of the Hungarian police's recruiting campaign) suffered injuries but survived the attack.
