Port of Spain, officially the City of Port of Spain (also stylized Port-of-Spain), is the capital of Trinidad and Tobago and the third largest municipality, after Chaguanas and San Fernando. The city has a municipal population of 49,867 (2017), [ 2 ] an urban population of 81,142 and a transient daily population of 250,000. [ 5 ]

The port in 2007 handled a total of 907,782 passengers, 16.26% more than in 2006, and the growing cruise passenger traffic rose 21.23%. In 2007, it processed some 11,262 ships. In 2011 the port was the fourth busiest container port in Spain, handling 1,287,389 TEUs. [5]

[2] In 2011, it was Mexico 's second-busiest port and the second-most-visited port-of-call for major cruise lines and pleasure boats.
The Port of Santa Cruz de Tenerife has the most modern cruise terminal in the region of Macaronesia. [7] It has an area of 9,000 square meters and capacity to serve up to 10,000 cruise passengers. [8] The building integrates several functions including: checking, control, waiting for passengers and luggage and local distribution.
