The COMSATS University Islamabad (CUI), formerly known as COMSATS Institute of Information Technology (CIIT), is a public university in Pakistan. It is a multi-campus university with its principal seat [5] located in Islamabad. Comsats was envisioned as Pakistan's first exclusive Institute of Information Technology.
The Secretariat of COMSATS, permanently located in Islamabad, Pakistan, is headed by an Exeutve Director, and supported by the grants from the Government of Pakistan. The current Executive Director of COMSATS is Ambassador Dr. Mohammad Nafees Zakaria. COMSATS statutory bodies provide meaningful forms for international cooperation.
The university is the first multi-campus university in Pakistan, having five modern campuses based in different cities. [3] These campuses are located in Chiniot-Faisalabad, Islamabad, Karachi, Lahore, and Peshawar, providing a standard educational environment and recreational facilities to 11,000 students, out of which 500 are faculty members and a quarter is covered by female students.
From 1998 to 2017 he was the Founder Rector of the COMSATS University Islamabad (CUI), which was awarded Charter by the Government of Pakistan in 2000. [1] After retiring from CUI, he is serving as the Executive Director of COMSATS , since March 2017.
