Cái Nước is a rural district of Cà Mau province in the Mekong Delta region of Vietnam. As of 2019 the district had a population of 136,638. [1] [2] The district capital lies at Cái Nước. [2] The district was split in 2004 to form a new district of Cà Mau province. It previously covered an area of 670 km 2 but today covers 395.14 km 2.
Despite being in Kiên Giang, it is closer to Cà Mau (40 km away) than Rạch Giá (80 km away). Vĩnh Thuận is bordered by An Minh and An Biên districts in the west, Gò Quao District in the north, Phước Long District (Bạc Liêu Province) in the southeast, and Thới Bình District (Cà Mau Province) in the south.
It is located in Đất Mũi Commune, Ngọc Hiển district, in Cà Mau, the southernmost of Vietnam's provinces. The park was established by Decision 142/2003/QĐ-TTg of the Prime Minister of Vietnam on July 14, 2003, on the basis of the natural preservation zone of Đất Mũi, a zone founded by Decision 194/CT, dated August 9, 1986.
