I have, of necessity, transported a couple of TVs flat. One was a 49" Samsung KS8000, the other an LG OLED 55". Distance was about 10 miles or less. That may demonstrate only that it's better to be lucky than smart. Or that the smaller TVs are less susceptible to gravity.
The Samsung OLED tech uses some kind of blue pixel tech, I wonder if that's a cause. OLED contrast; High refresh rates; The brightness of this newer OLED tech. However to counter some of the above: Both my phone, iPad and PC screens run at 120Hz, and they aren't a problem; My phone and laptop are both 4K OLED screens with high nit levels.
OLED TVs are known for being some of the thinnest on the market, often just a few millimeters thick. At least until you reach the bulkier section at the back where the components are housed, that is. Sony has taken note of customer feedback about this design and has made changes to the BRAVIA 8.
I have an OLED in light controlled room upstairs that is fully protected from direct sunlight. No issues at all with panel damage, burn in, etc, even after almost 4 years of use. In the downstairs family room, which is not light controlled (opposite 3 East facing large windows) we use a QLED (QN90A) and it's fine.

The OLED panel has an additional compensation applying circuit for each pixel and a separate sensing IC (Integrated Circuit) that interprets the measured values. Increased current through the cell is associated with OLED cell aging, and an algorithm adjusts the current and voltage to compensate for that aging.
