AUSTIN – Governor Greg Abbott and the Texas Department of Housing and Community Affairs (TDHCA) today announced that the Texas Rent Relief Program has distributed more than $1 billion in rental and utility assistance to more than 174,000 Texas households, with another $52 million already committed to being paid.
Beginning at 8 a.m., the Department will accept pre-applications for placement on the program’s wait-list. TDHCA’s HCV program provides funds through the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development to pay a portion of monthly rent for qualifying households in 34 Texas counties.
