He calls it the 3rd heaven and paradise. It is the third because it comes after the one we are in now (the 2nd) passes away. Some other verses that also indicate that there are multiple heaven and earths in time (not space) are Isaiah 65:17, 66:22; Rev 21:1. 2 Peter 3:7 indicates the flood of Noah caused the 1st heaven and earth to pass away.
Hi! Always an interesting read. Can you explain what you mean by this: Now, Elijah was taken up into heaven, and many people believe, well, he went to the third heaven. But if you go back and you really look at that passage, he wasn’t taken to the third heaven, because people saw him go into the mountains. He never left the first heaven.
Heaven is specifically called God's dwelling place (Deuteronomy 26:15). The apostle Paul calls this heaven the "third heaven" (2 Corinthians 12:2)—showing, as noted, that there are two others. It's described as the "third" because, being in the spirit realm, it is beyond the other two, which are in the physical realm.
In the vision that Paul described, where a man was caught up into the third heaven into Paradise, agrees with this understanding, since the third heaven is understood to be where God rules from today. But God will rule from the new earth after the new heavens and new earth are created, and that will also be Paradise.
Speaker: Lud Kiramidjian Date: 2/5/22 Location: Orinda The Bible reveals much about God’s throne in what Paul described as “the Third Heaven”. Besides many descriptions of God’s throne in the Book of Psalms, the Bible documents seven servants of God who were granted miraculous and spectacular “visions” of God’s majestic throne in heaven. In the OT records, four men were granted ...
It's this third reference that we find, so it is interesting. A third reference to heaven as the throne of God. The apostle Paul wrote about a vision of paradise which he calls the "third heaven" (2 Corinthians 12:2-4). Now this "third heaven" is a reference to the incredible realm where God exists in all of His majesty and power.
Paul says this paradise was in "the third heaven"—the dwelling place of God. Jesus tells us that "the tree of life" is located "in the midst of the Paradise of God" (Revelation 2:7). Revelation 22:2 explains that the tree of life is to be in the New Jerusalem.
Steve Myers – Jan 23, 2024 | In this class we will discuss 2 Corinthians 12:1–19 and examine the following: Paul describes a divine vision and revelation he experienced. He reveals a "thorn in the flesh" given to keep him humble, which he repeatedly asked God to remove, but was told, "My grace is sufficient for you." Paul boasts in his weaknesses, for Christ's power is made perfect in them ...
The third, the location of God's throne (2 Corinthians 12:2). The prophet was supernaturally transported to a different location—through the "heaven" of earth's atmosphere—allowing his associate, Elisha to step into the office of the chief prophet to Israel. The Bible teaches that "no one has ascended to heaven" (John 3:13).
Here we find the "stars of heaven"—the planets, stars, constellations and galaxies of this awesome physical universe (Genesis 22:17; 26:4; Deuteronomy 1:10; Isaiah 13:10). The "third heaven" is different still—it is the location of God's majestic throne (2 Corinthians 12:2).
