Santa Claus (born Thomas Patrick O'Connor, 1947) [1] is an American politician, monk, and child welfare activist. Claus gained recognition as a member of the North Pole, Alaska City Council, [ 2 ] and was a candidate for the 2022 Alaska's at-large congressional district special election . [ 3 ]
He was the owner and manager of Santa Claus House in North Pole, Alaska. Miller served on the North Pole City Council from 1976 to 1980 as a Republican. From 1983 to 1993, Miller served in the Alaska House of Representatives. He then served in the Alaska Senate from 1993 to 2001 and was president of the senate in 1997 and 1998. [1] [2]
For many years, the Santa Claus House also served as North Pole's post office. Miller attended school in North Pole and Fairbanks, graduating from Lathrop High School in 1961. He then attended the University of Alaska, where he was a member of Alpha Phi Omega. He graduated from UA with a Bachelor of Arts degree in 1965. [1]
