Cercemaggiore is a comune (municipality) in the Province of Campobasso in the Italian region Molise, located about 12 kilometres (7 mi) southeast of Campobasso. The population grew slowly to more than 1,000 by 1900. Fish processing was the dominant industry into the 1930s, when it became no longer profitable in the area. [3] Organized in 1902, The Dark Harbor Association was formed mostly of summer residents whose main goal was to improve and beautify the village.
