According to the United States Census Bureau, the city has a total area of 46.0 square miles (119 km 2), of which 7.2 square miles (19 km 2) (15.67%) are covered by water.

Linwood and J. B. were executed by electric chair in 1984 and 1985, respectively. Anthony Briley and Duncan Meekins are both still incarcerated.

Elliott Earl Williams (born 1974) was a US Army veteran who died in the Tulsa County, Oklahoma jail on October 27, 2011. The medical examiner determined in a 2014 report that he died from "complications of vertebrospinal injuries due to blunt force trauma", starvation, and dehydration. [1]
