King's College School, also known as Wimbledon, KCS, King's and KCS Wimbledon, is a private public school in Wimbledon, southwest London, England.The school was established in 1829 by King George IV, as the junior department of King's College London and had part of the school's premises in Strand, prior to relocating to Wimbledon in 1897.
There are around 2,400 private schools in England. [1] Many are represented by the Independent Schools Council (ISC), while around 300 independent senior schools are represented by the Headmasters' and Headmistresses' Conference (HMC), although both bodies also represent schools outside England and the United Kingdom.
Wimbledon College is a government-maintained, voluntary-aided, Jesuit Catholic secondary school and sixth form for boys aged 11 to 19 in Wimbledon, London. The college was founded in 1892 "for improvement in living and learning for the greater glory of God and the common good ."
Thomas's will open Thomas's College, a co-educational day and weekly-boarding senior school in September 2025 on Queens Road, Richmond Hill. The site was acquired in 2023 and has a rich history as a 19th century educational site. Originally the Wesleyan Theological College, its main Grade II listed building opened in 1843.
