A musical passage notated as flats. The same passage notated as sharps, requiring fewer canceling natural signs. Sets of notes that involve pitch relationships — scales, key signatures, or intervals, [1] for example — can also be referred to as enharmonic (e.g., the keys of C ♯ major and D ♭ major contain identical pitches and are therefore enharmonic).

XV:26) and the fourth quartet from the 'Prussian' Quartets are in F-sharp minor. More prominent keyboard pieces written in F-sharp minor include Handel's Keyboard Suite HWV 431, Carl Philipp Emanuel Bach's Fantasia H. 300, Carel Anton Fodor's Sonata Op. 2/2, Muzio Clementi's Piano Sonata Op. 25/5, Dussek's Sonata Op. 61 ('Élégie Harmonique ...
With its tonic note being a white key on the piano, and its parallel minor (relative to E♭♭ major) having 10 flats, its usage is generally undesirable. C♭ major does appear in Campagnoli's and Rinck's works mentioned below, along with A# minor, but those collections include both members of all six enharmonically equivalent pairs. [8]
The Piano Sonata in F-sharp minor D 571, was composed by Franz Schubert in July 1817. The sonata was first published long after the composer's death in 1888 by Breitkopf & Härtel . The sonata is incomplete, consisting of only a single movement, and even that was abandoned by the composer before completion.
In standard tuning (E A D G B E), four of the instrument's six open (unfretted) strings are part of the tonic chord. The key of E minor is also popular in heavy metal music , as its tonic is the lowest note on a standard-tuned guitar.
Jan Ladislav Dussek's Piano Sonata No. 18 in E ♭ major, Op. 44, known as Les Adieux ("The Farewell"), was written and published in 1800. It was dedicated to Dussek's fellow composer and virtuoso pianist, Muzio Clementi. This sonata is the longest of Dussek's piano sonatas.
The first movement is a well-structured, even straightforward, sonata form (albeit utilizing Ravel’s Impressionistic harmonic colorings). Two themes emerge in the exposition—the first in tonic key of F-sharp minor, and the second in D major and B minor. Owing to its diminutive form, the following minuet exists without a trio.
