O. C. Fisher Reservoir (also known as O. C. Fisher Lake, formerly known as San Angelo Lake) is an artificial lake located west of the city of San Angelo, Texas.With the financial support of the Upper Colorado River Authority, construction on the dam to form the reservoir was begun by the United States Army Corps of Engineers in 1947 and the lake was officially impounded in 1952.
The O.C. Fisher Reservoir was completed in 1952 by the United States Army Corps of Engineers with assistance from the Upper Colorado River Authority for the purpose of flood control and to provide secondary source of drinking water for San Angelo and the surrounding communities.
Baylor University is the repository for the O.C. Fisher Papers. [ 20 ] In 1975, San Angelo Lake, a reservoir managed by the United States Army Corps of Engineers was renamed O.C. Fisher Reservoir in his honor. [ 21 ]
