Zallaq (Arabic: الزلاق) is a town on the western coast of Bahrain. Zallaq was the home to the Al-Dawasir, Al-Zeabi and Al-Gahtam and Al-Seddiqi tribes in Bahrain together with Budaiya and Hawar Islands. [citation needed] It is famous for the Jazaer Beach [1] (also known as Zallaq Beach). [2]

The palace lies off the Zallaq Highway, northeast of the Bahrain International Circuit, the town of Zallaq and the University of Bahrain. It lies southwest of Sadad, Shahrakan and Dar Kulaib, the nearest town to the palace.

The Dawasir in Bahrain mainly settled in the towns of Zallaq and Budaiya. The tribe have a long history on the island of Bahrain, and on the surrounding Islands (in Qatar and Saudi Arabia). Many members of the tribe worked in the pearl industry.
Al Markh is also the name of a low sand-covered mound located in the south-west of Bahrain, 6 km south of the village of Zallaq and 1,200 m from the sea. In 1975, a British archaeology team led by Michael Roaf excavated the Al Markh mound, after sherds belonging to the Ubaid era were found in 1971. [2]
The Kingdom of Bahrain is divided into four governorates: the Capital, Northern, Southern and Muharraq.The Central Governorate was abolished in September 2014. [1]Each governorate is governed by a governor, appointed by the prime minister, and has its own municipality council, with separate elections for them.
