AdviceUK is a membership body for organisations and services that provide free and independent advice across England, Scotland and Wales and a charity registered with the Charity Commission. [1] Typically its members are charities and community groups that work in a particular geographical location or with a clearly defined client group.
CAS launched a national helpline in 2005, called Citizens Advice Direct, staff were based in Glasgow city centre. [1] In 2012 a study showed that most of CAS's activity was the provision of advice across five areas: benefits, debt, employment, housing and relationship. [2]

The Witness Service (also known as Citizens Advice Witness Service [1]) is a service in England and Wales for witnesses who have to give evidence in criminal courts. [1] The Witness Service offers practical and emotional support and is a free service. [ 2 ]
