Diana Ross & the Supremes: Greatest Hits (also released as The Supremes: Greatest Hits) is a two-LP collection of singles and B-sides recorded by the Supremes, released by Motown in August 1967 (see 1967 in music). The collection was the first LP to credit the group under the new billing "Diana Ross & the Supremes".
The Supremes are the most successful American group of all time, and the 26th greatest artist of all time on the US Billboard charts; [1] with 12 number-one songs on the Billboard Hot 100 (the fifth-best total in the chart's history) [2] and three number-one albums on the Billboard 200. [3]
That album was a double disc release, and constituted both volumes one and two of the Supremes' greatest-hits series (hence the title of this release). Diana Ross & the Supremes: Greatest Hits Vol. 3 was released on compact disc.

The three-album set not only included all of the R&B hits and most of the pop hits of Diana Ross and the Supremes, but also included several tracks of the band's more experimental material, including forays made by the band into 1960s British pop, country music and musical theatre. [8]
Motown expanded the track list to include hits from The Supremes after Ross left the trio in 1970, also including her solo work up to 1981, for the 1998 40 Golden Motown Greats CD. The same album artwork was used and this collection earned a gold disc for sales exceeding 100,000 copies.
