Horwath said: Warlock doesn't stack his levels to other spellcasters. He has separate mechanics: short vs long rest. You dont get any extra skills if you go from bard to lock but you gain one if you go from lock to bard, but the sum is the same it's 3+0 or 2+1. Both classes get overlap in light armor proficiency.
Jul 25, 2015. #1. I've been toying around with a Paladin/Bard mutliclass character in a campaign and found him to be shockingly effective. The Paladin/Bard is a jack of all trades of the highest caliber. He can diplomacy, he can fight, he can tank, he can heal, and he can buff. He trades off some early level efficacy for a mid to late-game punch.
Having 12,14,14,16 for your 4 highest stats and a bonus feat works very well. The best Bard race and really the only competitive alternative to the half elf bard. Dragonborn: More suited to the Valorious bard the Dragonborn still make a good bard as resistance to an energy type is useful and the breath weapon is kind of like a free level 1 AoE ...
Spells are the Lore Bard, but the Valor Bard is so sharply divided between magic, melee, and music the Valor Bard is always struggling. This is my primary complaint about the 5e Valor Bard - no songs, and instruments interfere with fighting. I played a Skald human variant Bard with Mobility Feat to act like a swift-footed Viking Raider.
Feb 5, 2016. #2. It works well. I would suggest going bard 3 or 5 first. EB get's the biggest benefit at character level 5 when you get 2 rays, but bard 5 is also a big boost. Last edited: Feb 5, 2016.
Jan 31, 2018. #7. Tiny Servant is an amusing (but expendable) spy, servant, entertainment, invisibility detector (blindsight) and weak combatant. It is very versatile. It isn't a powergamer move in a high combat party, but it can 'fill a bunch of gaps' with just one spell. I think it becomes more reasonable to use once you get to 9th or 10th ...
But please don't take it badly, 'Cause Kord knows I'm to blame. But, if I stayed here with you girl, Things just couldn't be the same. Cause I'm as free as a Bard now, And this Bard you'll never change. And this Bard you can not change. Kord knows, I can't change. Kord help me, I can't change.
Explorer. Feb 14, 2018. #1. Our group has been playing D&D 3.5 (among other RPG's) for many years, and our DM will soon be starting up a new D&D campaign using 5th Ed. (We never looked at 4th.) This will be our group's first attempt at 5e. My first idea was to play a Bard, but am considering now cross-classing with Monk.
So you have a low AC, and your hit points are not all that impressive either. Valor is more about melee and ranged weapon attacks. You get a bonus attack, which is very useful, and a much higher base AC with medium armor and a shield. You also can, at 10th level, grab the rangers Swift Quiver spell.
Level 1: Paladin (Vengeance) Level 2: Warlock (Hexblade) Level 3-7: Paladin. Level 8-11: Bard (Valor of Swords) (ASI at level 5: CHA + 2) (Level 11 ASI possibly a feat that grants +1 to CHA) Class notes: The Warlock (Hexblade) will let me use my CHA modifier for both the longsword and lance since they both lack the "two-handed" feature.
