  3. setting 45 degrees on metal chop saws? - Miller Welding...

    forum.millerwelds.com/.../2649-setting-45-degrees-on-metal-chop-saws

01-29-2008, 03:34 PM. I use a square to set my 45's or 90's. You cant rely on the settings on the saw and I snug up both bolts. I also never use the lock down handle with the bolts, it doesnt hold very well anyhow. The only trouble I have with mine is the blade flexing if I only want to cut off a 1/4" of material.

  4. Chop saw versus miter saw with metal blade - Miller Welding...

    forum.millerwelds.com/.../7868-chop-saw-versus-miter-saw-with-metal-blade

Also there is clamping device to hold the material while cutting. Using a chop saw blade in a miter saw will ruin it...sparks, and metal. Bulldog.

  5. chop saw VS band saw - Miller Welding Discussion Forums

  6. Need a speed control to reduce my chopsaw speed.

    forum.millerwelds.com/forum/motorsports/12793-need-a-speed-control-to-reduce...

A speed reducer for your abrasive saw is not the solution. Reducing the speed also reduces the torque. You WILL (not may) burn up a perfectly good chop saw. Porter Cable, Milwaukee, Makita, etc all make cold cut saws designed to operate at the speeds dictated by carbide blades.

  7. The best way to cut tube steel at angles

    forum.millerwelds.com/forum/welding-projects/33902-the-best-way-to-cut-tube...

The best way is a band saw with a miter head, I have a Ellis that does a fantastic job. But like MMW said, how much and how often are you going to need to do this is the key factor. Typically, If your using a 14" chop saw with 1/8" thick tube and thinner and the tube is say 2" x 3" you should be fine but that's about as big as I recommend. 11b.

  8. Chop Saw For Cutting Tubing? - Miller Welding Discussion Forums

    forum.millerwelds.com/forum/welding-discussions/6116-chop-saw-for-cutting-tubing

Tweet. #2. 07-08-2005, 06:15 AM. A cold saw is great. They are a bit more money but most can cut with or without coolant depending on blade, save space, and cut faster and straight. I've used a hogh speed chop saw for years before getting a good miter band saw. The chop saw is noisy, dusty and throws sparks everywhere.

  9. Chop Saw VS Dry Cut Saw - Miller Welding Discussion Forums

    forum.millerwelds.com/forum/welding-discussions/7339-chop-saw-vs-dry-cut-saw

Tweet. #4. 12-28-2005, 06:15 AM. I looked at those dry cut saws also, but I ended up with a abrasive chop saw and a Jet 4 X 5 Horzontial band saw for less money than any of the dry says. My chop saw mostly sits in the corner as the band saw get most of the work, but the chop saw is handy for outside quick and dirty work.

  10. Chop saw vs. Cold saw - Miller Welding Discussion Forums

    forum.millerwelds.com/forum/welding-discussions/20002-chop-saw-vs-cold-saw

If you want to cut accurate 45's in both directions, you need a miter saw. The abrasive chop saws and dry cut chop saws only cut 45's in one direction and not all that accurately either. Evolution Rage 3 metal cutting compound slide 10" dry cut miter saw is what I use for cutting accurate miters. For basic 90 cuts, I just use the abrasive chop saw.
