Scheduled periodic inspections to identify unsafe conditions and work practices are supervisor requirements per Cal OSHA Title 8 CCR 3203(a)(4) and Stanford’s Injury and Illness Prevention Program (IIPP). Stanford recommends completing the checklist on an annual basis.
This General Workplace Inspection Checklist is intended to help office occupants assess any workplace deficiencies. Periodic inspection (at least once per year for offices) and correction of identified hazards are supervisor requirements per Stanford’s Injury and Illness Prevention Program (IIPP).
The employee is responsible for inspecting his/her designated workspace before work from home begins, on a periodic scheduled basis thereafter (yearly minimum recommended), and whenever work area changes introduce new potential workplace hazards.
Use this checklist along with the Laboratory Self-Inspection checklist. The Principal Investigator (PI)/lab safety coordinator (LSC) ensures inspections are carried out annually. Completed checklists, including corrective actions taken, are maintained for at least one year.
