Earth 1:1500 (survival) + interactive map. Archived post. New comments cannot be posted and votes cannot be cast. Please make a 1:1 scale, by my calculations if you leave out the height of the earth (use minecraft's 256m) then it'll only be 7,500 terabytes! Or if you do take height into account it'll be a little bit more at 185,926,000 terabytes.
The world is fully playable (includes ores, trees, etc). Elevation has been scaled to fit the constraints of a Minecraft world. Sea level was adjusted to 40 blocks which puts Mt. Everest at 121 blocks high. The Earth was generated with various images from NASA (including landmass, satellite, elevation, and vegetation maps) using a custom python ...

This is a map of Earth at 1:90m scale. This is by far the largest contiguous map of Planet Earth ever reconstructed in Minecraft. All topography above sea level is taken from government-grade accurate 90m scale height maps. It is 428 544 blocks wide and 159 744 blocks long. took me 3 months to make with the aid of my own script and my own ...
The 1:1500 NA map is 186 MB compressed. NA is 25 million km 2 , but the Minecraft map includes surrounding ocean. We'll round it up to 35 million km 2. The Earth is 510 million km 2 which is around 14.6 times bigger than NA. So a 1:1500 map of the Earth would have an estimated size of 2.7 GB.
To make this fully playable Minecraft map of Europe I used the program QGIS to analyze and adapt the NASA Elevation data, GEBCO Bathymetry data, ESA Land Cover data and WWF HydroSHEDS River data. The layers were then exported and worked on in the program WorldPainter to make the Minecraft world.
