Technical University of Mombasa (TUM) is a public university located in the coastal city of Mombasa. [1][2] It is amongst the oldest institution of higher learning in Kenya. History. Technical University of Kenya grew out of the Kenya Polytechnic. The Kenya Polytechnic was founded in 1961. [4] Proposals for the establishment of a technical institute in Nairobi were put forward in the Willoughby Report published in 1949. This led to the creation of the Royal Technical College of East Africa (RTCEA).
