George Town is the capital and largest city in the Cayman Islands, located on Grand Cayman. It was named after King George III . As of 2022 [update] , the city had a population of 40,957, [ 1 ] making it the largest city (by population) of all the British Overseas Territories .

Its epicenter was located 130 miles (209 kilometers) south-southwest of George Town in the Cayman Islands. The U.S. National Tsunami Warning Center said there was no tsunami alert for the U.S. mainland but issued a tsunami advisory for Puerto Rico and the U.S. Virgin Islands, which was later cancelled.
The museum contains over 8,000 items and artifacts ranging from coins to a 14-foot catboat. The Natural History Exhibit features a 3-dimensional map depicting the underwater geological formations that surround the Cayman Islands. Margaret Leshikar-Denton was appointed the museum's director in 2011, having first worked for the museum in 1986. [1]
