Gavà (Catalan pronunciation:) is a municipality in the Baix Llobregat comarca, in the province of Barcelona in Catalonia, Spain. It borders the coast of the Mediterranean Sea between Viladecans and Castelldefels. Gavà has a beach and two population centers: the city proper and Gavà Mar (Gavà Sea), a coastal neighborhood.
It is part of the municipality of Castell-Platja d'Aro, itself in the comarca of Baix Empordà and province of Girona in Catalonia, Spain. The resort was developed from the early 1920s on the peninsular between the beaches of Platja de Sant Pol and Platja de Sa Conca. [1] [2] To date, the promontory contains about 60 exclusive houses and hotels.
Between 1979 and 2011, the town was governed by the Socialists' Party of Catalonia (PSC). The first democratic mayor after Constitution was Agustín Marina Pérez [].In 2011, the conservative People's Party (PP) won a plurality of seats for the first time, and Manuel Reyes of the PP was elected mayor of the town. The building has a multi-purpose room in the basement, temporary exhibition halls and an educational workshop on the ground floor, and the permanent exhibition Gavà, les veus del paisatge (Gavà, a landscape of voices) on the top floor.
