Dallas is an American prime time soap opera that aired on CBS from April 2, 1978, to May 3, 1991. The series revolved around an affluent and feuding Texas family, the Ewings, who owned the independent oil company Ewing Oil and the cattle-ranching land of Southfork.
The show was famous for its cliffhangers, including the "Who shot J.R.?" mystery and the "Dream Season". The original miniseries (consisting of five episodes) from 1978 is now presented as "Season 1" in keeping with the initial release on DVD in 2004, although originally Season 1 officially began with the episode that aired on September 23, 1978.
Rich stayed on the show until the season three finale, and Capice left his duties at the end of the ninth season. Future showrunner Leonard Katzman 's involvement with the first season was limited to being the producer, and Cliff Fenneman—who served as producer for the final three seasons of the show—was the associate producer.
Dallas' fifth season was released by Warner Bros. Home Video, on a Region 1 DVD box set of five double-sided DVDs, on August 1, 2006. In addition to the 26 episodes, it also includes the featurette "A Living Landmark, A Tour of the Real Southfork Ranch". [1]
