National University (Filipino: Pamantasang Pambansa) commonly known as NU, colloquially National U, is a private non–sectarian university located in Sampaloc, Manila, Philippines. The founder of the university, Mariano F. Jhocson Sr., established the institution on August 1, 1900, as Colegio Filipino in Quiapo , Manila.
The National U Pep Squad performs at the halftime of the basketball games of the NU Bulldogs in the University Athletic Association of the Philippines and represents the university in the UAAP Cheerdance Competition along with the NU Cheer Squadron and NU Drummers. They were the champions for four consecutive years (2013, 2014, 2015, and 2016).
The NU Lady Bulldogs competes in the University Athletic Association of the Philippines (UAAP). They had their most successful results in the 2010s. Dioceldo Sy of Ever Bilena became the Lady Bulldog's sports patron in 2011. [1] Sy in turn tapped Patrick Aquino as head coach in 2012. [2]
In the early years of the UAAP, the NU Bulldogs were a competitive team in the league, winning a title in 1954. The Bulldogs were coached by Skip Guinto, who was approached by the Jhocsons, owners of NU, to coach their team. The Bulldogs relied on Antonio Villamor to defeat the FEU Tamaraws to win their first title. [1]

From being a simple gathering to honor the year's best rock artists, the event had grown into one of the most prestigious awards shows in the Philippines. The final Rock Awards was an invite-only event, as opposed to having tickets sold as during the previous iterations. [10]
