Károlyi Castle (also called Uray Castle) is a 19th-century castle located in Beregsurány, Vásárosnamény District, Szabolcs-Szatmár-Bereg County, Hungary.The castle was built in classicist style by Baron Gyula Uray before being acquired by the Károlyi family and updated by architect Miklós Ybl.
The first two sites in Hungary were added to the list at the 11th Session of the World Heritage Committee, held in Paris, France in 1987. One of these two sites was the village of Hollókő , the other was Budapest , the Banks of the Danube with the district of Buda Castle (the latter site was expanded in 2002). [ 4 ]
It is the second most important tourist destination in Hungary. 2.5 million tourists visited the lake in 1994. [14] [15] Hungary's other tourist attractions include spas, facilities for activity holidays, and cultural attractions such as the villages of the Great Hungarian Plain and the art treasures found in Budapest.
