Uitsig is a 71% white suburb of the city of Bloemfontein in South Africa. Uitsig is a fairly new and still expanding suburb, but also has its more established parts and is located in the southern part of Bloemfontein. With the newly renovated and expanded Fauna Shopping Centre in close proximity, this is a very popular neighbourhood to live in.
Like Bloemfontein, the place is named after Jan Bloem II [5] (also known as Blumtseb or !Xāskx'aob) who was the right hand to the chief of the ǀŨdiǁʼais (Springbok clan) of the !Orakuana ("Korana") nation. In June 1869, the South African Republic's Volksraad created a new district called Bloemhof named after the town itself. [4]
