The Schuppan 962CR was a sports car built from 1992-1994 by Australian racecar driver Vern Schuppan. It was built as a tribute to Schuppan's 1983 24 Hours of Le Mans victory and 1983 All Japan Sports Prototype Championship title (Schuppan won both driving a Porsche 956 ).
In 1991 Vern Schuppan created his Schuppan 962CR for Japanese customers, with a list price of 195 million Yen, or UK£830,000. The bodywork and chassis were completely new and unique, designed by Mike Simcoe of GM Holden in Australia, but the engine was taken directly from 962s, although it was also expanded to 3.3 litres.
Vernon John Schuppan AM (born 19 March 1943) is a retired Australian motor racing driver. Schuppan drove in various categories, participating in Formula One , the Indianapolis 500 and most successfully in sports car racing .

Le Mans in 1990. The 1990 24 Hours of Le Mans was the 58th Grand Prix of Endurance, taking place at the Circuit de la Sarthe, France, on the 16 and 17 June 1990.Due to the ongoing dispute between the ACO and the FISA governing body, the race was not part of the World Sports-Prototype Championship.
