Goregaon Road railway station is a halt station on the Konkan Railway. It is located 40.8 kilometres (25.4 mi) from the start of the line at Kolad . The preceding station on the line is Mangaon railway station , also a halt, and the next station is Veer railway station .
The Goregaon depot operates most of the bus routes on the western side of the station (some services are rarely supplied through Oshiwara Depot also) while Dindoshi depot operates most of the eastern side of the station (Bus Route 341 is an exception which is operated by Pratiksha Nagar Depot when it is transported through and from Antop Hill).
Goregaon Bus Depot, however, is located away from the railway station, on Link Road. The link road has seen an increase in the traffic of late after the commencement of the Mumbai Metro construction work. There is a new flyover at Ram Mandir road, connecting Goregaon West and Goregaon East. [2]
The distance between Jogeshwari and Goregaon stations was considered long enough, hence this station was created. The station has four platforms, two each for Western line slow trains and two for Harbour line section. Harbour line was extended to Goregaon on 29 March 2018. [7] The station got its name from a 150 year old temple of Lord Ram.
The trains passing through King's Circle station are only the ones going to Bandra, Andheri and Goregaon from CSMT or Panvel and vice versa. In March of 2024 re-naming the station Tirthankar Parshvanath after Parshvanatha received official approval, though it is unclear when or if this has happened.
